Why do we never find time for things we like?
Why do we fight with people that matter most?
Why do we struggle on with a job we hate?
Why do we gossip and discuss people?
Why do we dwell so much on the past?
Why do we tussle against things that are good for us?
Why do we never realize what we are capable of?

There’s a surreal feeling in the air today.
A feeling of time long gone, of an age yet to pass.

The day’s settling into its usual pace—
People preparing for their siesta,
Dog’s scuffling to find shade—
But something doesn’t feel the same.

Is it a change of seasons, or a shift in perception?
Another Saturday afternoon to while away
After the strains of a long week,
So what could this be that I feel today?

I grasp at straws, trying to put it together.
Everything around seems brighter,
The shroud of gloom seems to have lifted.
A long lost emotion rises within… hope?

I guess it’s time to move on, leave the past behind.
After all, we are not made to give up,
But to struggle and fight
To attain what our heart desires.

There’s a surreal feeling in the air today,
And I hope it is here to stay!

I asked her, if she’s never appreciated anything I’ve written.
She said “I am not interested in the topics you write about. It’s too technology oriented.”
I started writing poetry when she said that, but that didn’t make an inkling of a difference. I should have realized, that sometimes, it’s not about what you write.

What is wrong is wrong. But then again, who are you to judge? Is morality absolute, or is it—like everything else in this world—relative? If we were in a world where murder was commonplace, would it be “right” to kill someone simply because they aggravate you? Who decides what is right and what isn’t?

It’s funny how you love so many things, almost everything.
And still end up loving a girl with whom you do not have a single thing in common.
And then you struggle.
On and on, trying to make it work!
There’s the sign, that the human machine needs oiling…
Sometimes, it really is not worth the effort.
The secret lies not in never giving up, but knowing when to.
