Life isn’t easy. It’s not just you. In fact life is really hard. Most people just break in the face of all the hurdles and challenges life throws on them.
But you have to realize, it’s those who conquer the impossible odds that live happiest. Don’t give up, don’t give in, stand strong, and live to fight for it, and you will get what you desire.

No matter how much I want to, I cannot make myself sugarcoat this one fact: you will never be ahead of the curve if you simply follow and imitate others. True innovation is only possible when you are ahead of the pack.

It’s New Year’s day! It’s that time of the year when people go about trying to make their resolutions for the new year, and finding ways to stay on track. Time and again, I’ve done the same, only to break them in a week or two! For once, I decided to sit down and try to figure out why.
The experience has been exciting in itself, but that’s a topic I may come back to later. It turns out that the problem lay more in my inability to make proper resolutions, than in keeping them! This really stood out in the resolutions where I was:

  • Trying to change too many things at once
  • Aiming for something I’m not passionate about
  • Setting the bar too high
  • Making resolutions which don’t translate into actual Tasks
  • Being vague about the goals

Keeping these in mind, I’ve made my resolutions for 2013. I hope I can stay on track a little longer this time around.

It’s surprising how inflexible people can be with their opinions! They may be the smartest people you know, they may be leagues ahead in many ways, but they can shock you with the nonsense they spout when their opinions are challenged.

Even if you’re infinitely confident you’re right, keep your thoughts open to contention. You may know a lot, but there will be at least a minimal chance that you may not have factored in everything.

Be smart about your opinions. Close mindedness did not help men discover fire. Open up!
